[*_*]There will spoilers, hidden for your safetyLast night i finally completed the finale of my most loved video game trilogy.
Now let me rewind for a moment. I preordered.Mas
s Effect 3 the day i found out about the N7 [collector's] edition, over 6 months ago. I wasn't able to to pick it up for another week after it released. During that time i began hearing all this anger about the ending from the gaming community. At this point I've been extremely excited of the conclusion to this epic journey i started many years ago. Constantly humming The Pointer Sisters

I truly loved the Mass Effect series. And i still do, despite the controversial ending. The last trip of this journey was exactly what i expected when i first booted the game. [except for the ending, a bit different] The revival of the 1st game's weapon customization. The 2nds action. Grand gripping story. Heartfelt moments. Difficult decisions.
Accidently caused the quarins extinction while trying to help the geth. So pissed at myself. Amazing fleshed out galaxy. Truly hated the Illusive Man the first time i laid eyes on him. Bioware did well growing my hate towards him in the final game. Martin Sheen was perfect for this character.
Overall the relationships i built up in the previous games felt like they took a back seat in ME3. Especially the ending. The main cause for fan rage.
I expected this grand battle against the reapers. Which was delivered. One epic space battle i must say. The thresher maw vs mini reaper was awesome too. Somehow on earth i only died when mob of banshees attacked. Not the 6 brutes and dozen marauder wave beforehand.
I also expected the end to be this amazing feat of destroying the reapers against overwhelming odds. With Shepard, his closet friends and handful of allies. [3 million survivors out of 100 billion souls in the galaxy i surmise] Cutscenes of Liara, Ashley, Wrex, Javik, etc moving on after this near organic galactic extinction. The races rebuilding Earth, Thessia, Palaven and so forth.
But what we got was this odd and weird confrontation between order, represented by machines, and chaos, represented by organics. Then i discovered this theory. An indoctrination theory. Go to the in game codex and listen to the part for indoctrination. Think about the meeting with the rachni. The ordeal with saren. The exploration within the geth collective. Sheapard's nightmares of the child left behind on earth. Then back to shepard's final trip on the citadel. Reports of total destruction around the the transporter beam. Anderson somehow getting ahead of you within a one way hallway, a shifting hallway. The sudden apperance of the illusive man. Hackett somehow knowing you're within the citadel. The ghoslty child in a fantastical area. The credits roll and you find a father and his son stargazing. The child wants to hear another story. The father starts a tale of the Shepard. Then the promise of dlc. It seems Bioware is not finished. For those wish no spoilers. After the credits there is a mention of dlc. That's when i remember, the mission with aria and omega never happened.
I enjoyed the ending. Made me think, wonder. But i'm not happy with the lack of closure. Still a lovely beautiful game despite that. Still worth my money. I expected something absolutely ridiculous with all the rage i heard from fans before i had the chance to finally start Mass Effect 3. A bit disappointing.
. But you'll still find me paying full price for this game over receiving a game like call of duty for free.
Other thoughts.
Just like Kaidan, Zaeed, Jack and Jacob, i couldnt have had cared less for Vega. Guess Bioware needed a jarhead to pull some interest for call of idiots. Hell i liked Anderson's 2nd in command more. Cpt. Coats i think it was.
Anyways i hope i didn't bore you too much.
