Nothing Ventured...
No super post today, just want to take a minute to harp on my favorite browser: Chromium. If you've kept up with what I've said, you'll know I run Ubuntu, and now you know what browser I choose. Little key fact is that I use the daily builds so I have the most up-to-date crap. And today, they finally executed on something I've been waiting a long time to see: the stop and reload buttons were combined and the go button axed completely. This is GREAT in all, but it creates an imbalance. There used to be three buttons on either side of the address bad, now there are 3 on the left and two on the right... Small detail, but hard to get used to. I'm glad to see Chromium continually working to improve itself and not focusing on big point releases, more smaller, incremental releases that I think is more in tune with the web that it helps to bring you. That said, if they had to stop work on EVERYTHING and put in just ONE more feature: please let me have a legitimate ad-blocker. Right now, the only option is an ad-hider, it still pings the ad servers, it just removes them from your viewing. Chromium, you're great, but get with it. I know you are created by a company that is big on ads, but one can dream, can't they? Later all! ADDENDUM: Wow, notice something new every day... While writing this, I just noticed that the browser also now gives a nice subtle outline to the text box you currently have selected, nice. |
