Saturday during work I had an allergic reaction to the sun. Which developed into an early heat stroke. The manager of the park told me to basically suck it in and keep working. Then I got even more sick...SO I called in sick Sunday so I wouldn`t wear myself out for the following 5 days of crazy 9 hour shifts straight
So anyway, Saturday night at 7pm I called work and asked to be transferred to my department to call in sick. I told them my employee number, my job title, all that info. They transferred me. It was the maintenance voicemail. Okay. I left a message. Explaining everything and leaving contact information so they can call me back in case.
Just to make sure, I tried calling another 3 times to try and talk to a person. But I always got the voicemail. So I figured it was okay and I left it.
Sunday morning hits. Not a call to ask where I am. Figured it was fine. I was feeling better so I enjoyed the day (Carefully) under a parasol and high sunscreen. Went to the shrine and bought makeup and clothes for AN. A relaxing day.
Today hits. No one says a word to me about yesterday. I figured they got the call and it was cool. I sign in, start my work, all goes smooth.
It was around 2:15pm, my shift ends at 3:30pm. My supervisor comes to me and says the manager needs to see me. Uhm....okay? We walk to the ends of the earth......and meet up in this small room with the manager, and her supervisor for the area itself.
She asks rudely, Olivia why didn't you call yesterday?
I say.....I did call, check the messages again?
Long story short.......sh
e didn't get the message and WAITED UNTIL NEAR MY SHIFT WAS OVER TO TELL ME, INSTEAD OF ASKING ME ABOUT IT BEFORE? I totally saw her and she did not say a word to me. THE FUSDLKAS okay anyway, I was like wtf and I showed her my cellphone, there were 4 calls to my work 2 days ago (Saturday) at 7pm. I had evidence to back up my claim.
However she did not ask me before and did not check to see the Maitenence mailbox if what I was saying was true.
I explained to them the whole situation from what happened Saturday afternoon until today, and all she could say was "Well call the right number next time, put on sunblock, drink water, and don't cause trouble for us again; finding a substitute last minute is diffcult" (she said it rude as hell) and I`m like "But I did call, I thought I was giving you adequate time, that was more than 11 hours notice. And you know I was not feeling well yesterday. Sunblock and water can't stop a heat stroke."
and then she just kinda like, repeated herself and tried to backpedal and I`m like the fu in my head and I just rolled with it.
But what made me really angry, is she called me a body. She's like "You know, we needed that extra BODY out there. When we don`t have another BODY its hard"
she didn`t say person. she didn`t say we needed you. she said BODY.
that showed me she has no respect for me and looks at me as a replaceable pawn. You know what, this job seems simple but it isn't. If an irresponsible dope takes this job, the park is gonna be disgusting. If you view me that way....
Also with my body language I made sure was assertive and confident, because I knew I did no wrong. I looked them dead in the eye, awnsered loud and clear, and was not shaking and had a straight back. I aint lying about this stuff. I know my responsibiliti
es.
After that, she's like "Well, this is my supervisor, Travis" WHO DID NOT SAY A WORD THE WHOLE THING and I`m like "Nice to meet you" and I left
and then I talked to my area supervisor after, I apologized if I caused any trouble for Sunday if it was busy and told him about the mix up. He said not to worry and that he noted it was out of character for me. :/ YES OF COURSE....I keep my duties in check.
Also on Sunday they got complaints BUT WHEN IM ON SHIFT, THERE IS NEVER ANY COMPLAINTS AND MY AREA IS SPOTLESS.
Also they considered this action a "no call, no show" and if it happened again, I could be fired.
Which would actually be firing on false grounds and they owe me money because I did call.
And if they fire me, so be it. If they do I get paid all the money they owe me till October cause they would be firing me before I got to work 3 months, and for no good reason
